Dear Families,

This week we celebrated Anzac Day.

ANZAC Day is such an important day to remember all our fallen and current soldiers as well as to thank them for their service to our country. Each of the rooms planned activities based on this day. They had age appropriate discussions about ANZAC Day and what it means.

Georgia’s father (who is in the Australian Army) kindly lent us some of his memorabilia to be used for show and tell. One of the things he brought in was his precious historical book which spanned through two wars! It contained photos (some real, some copies) of the landing in Gallipoli, war equipment, ships and even of the then kings! The book itself looked historical and we handled it very carefully. Georgia also showed us her father’s medals which he proudly wore on his ANZAC Day march. He also brought in his old army uniform and the children had fun trying it on.

Cooper (from the Possum Room) also provided photos of his great great grandfather’s slouch hat which was worn during his service in WWII. Cooper’s great great grandfather’s name was Edward Emblem and he started in the army at only 18. This year he would have celebrated his 100th Birthday! He served in WWII and was also at the Cowra breakout in 1944.

Kind Regards
